Rare Find: Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park Beach And Waterfalls

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is named after John Pfeiffer, who lived in a cabin on the property beginning in 1884. He was the son of Micahel and Barbara Pfeiffer, the first European settlers in the area.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has both a hotel (the Big Sur Lodge) and a campground within its boundaries. The campgrounds were closed in the winter of 2008-2009 due to the Basin Complex Fire, but most are open as of May 22, 2009.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is popular for its redwood groves and trail to Pfeiffer Falls. Many of these trails were closed during 2009 due to damage from the Basin Complex Fire, but are now re-opened.

Horsemanning Is The New Planking Meme

Seriously, people in the internet never get tired of innovating ideas and funny stuffs just to be noticed. Although, they seem “idiotic” at first, when the trends actually hit it, it becomes phenomenal and makes its own sense of humor. Since “being popular and updated is the new trend”, here’s another one to feed your ancient knowledge of “what’s in” today besides Planking.

Horsemanning is a way to pose for photographs in which the subject appears to be decapitated. This Internet meme involves two subjects in various poses so that one person appears to have no head, while the only the other person’s head is visible. This creates a humorous and often bizarre photo that is shared widely online through websites and social media. (

Horsemanning is believed to have its origins in the 1920s – or perhaps even earlier – and archived photos exist to support this theory. The trend stems from a short story by Washington Irving called “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, which features the Headless Horseman, who “rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head”.

Horsemanning followed on the heels of other photographic Internet trends such as planking and owling. The photographs are displayed online and promoted through social media. Participants submit new photos in an effort to create new and innovative versions of the trend. Horsemanning is considered more interactive than other similar memes because it involves two people.

So you dare try this one on your next trip to internet viral “idiocy”?
